Can you imagine the power of media? It’s so powerful it can change people’s mindset over certain things. When used wrong, this power can be used to ruin a person. Yes, we are living in this situation now but even before, this has happened. That’s what was explored in Clint Eastwood’s latest film, Richard Jewell. Richard Jewell is a biopic and a study on the events that changed the life of the man. This true to life movie reflected the terrifying truth about the power of media and how it can turn the public’s perception of a man from hero to villain in a heartbeat. Packed with a strong narrative and impeccable performances, Bingers, here is our take on Warner Bros. Pictures Richard Jewell.

Performances That Astound
The movie is a biopic with a touch of judicial drama. Eastwood’s direction gave it a more grounded tone which made the actors’ performances extra compelling! With such a huge cast which includes Kathy Bates, Jon Hamm, Olivia Wilde, and Sam Rockwell, nothing less is expected from this powerhouse cast! Richard Jewell, however, gave us one breakthrough performance from Paul Walter Hauser who played the titular role. Hauser secured everything in the bag: the looks and the character. His acting earned people’s sympathy the way the real Jewell did during his trial because of his pure authenticity. Hauser as Jewell, alone, is perfect casting. In fact, minutes before the movie started, I searched about Jewell and saw the uncanny similarities.
In a pool of great actors, one acting that really stuck with me was Kathy Bates’. This doesn’t come as a surprise, really. I have always loved her for her gravity and range! In the movie, she played as Mrs. Jewell and watching her silent meltdowns as she watches her son go through all the trouble broke my heart. She perfectly captured the essence of a mother’s undying love for her child. Ironically, her subdued acting heightened the emotions of the story. This, I believe, is in part to Clint Eastwood.
Richard Jewell may have just been this year’s early jewel. It has a tight narrative that centered on the titular character without taking away the spotlight from its cast. Eastwood’s masterful direction worked on different emotions that left me on the edge one moment and crying the following moment.
