And I loathe horror movies that make me fall asleep. Jordan Peele’s second film in the genre creeped its way in into my heart. His first film, Get Out, killed me with its smart storytelling and his second film, Us, kept the tradition alive. DC had their Wonder Woman in 2017. Two years later and Marvel Studios finally released their first female-led superhero movie. And it was at a perfect timing. Captain Marvel is the perfect tie-in between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The superhero is touted to be among the strongest in the universe and is a formidable foe for Thanos. So, with that much power, did she prove herself to be worthy of a standalone movie? Well, that’s what we are going to find out in a bit.
Bingers, who among you have tried undergoing escape rooms? They are practically everywhere in Metro Manila! My most recent experience was in Makati and it had a creepy theme. Well, most escape rooms have themes and backstories to make the experience more fun! Apart from reveling in the plot, the design or the overall aesthetic of each room adds to the tension or, better yet, pressure of winning the game by escaping before the time runs out. Okay, let’s take it up a notch and make things lifelike. That’s the idea behind the movie Escape Room. Columbia Pictures recently invited The Little Binger to a very exclusive screening and I may have just found my new guilty pleasure! Goodbyes are never meant to be happy. It will always be a bittersweet moment. Each farewell carry more weight with time. Without sounding too emotional about this, How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is one of the saddest moments in modern cinema. Sure, Disney-Pixar Up crushed my heart and Marley and Me had me bawling my eyes out. DreamWorks How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, however, destroyed me emotionally. Okay, Bingers. Confession time: I HATED THE TRANSFORMERS MOVIE. I mean, sure I watched every single one of them but my hatred for them grew with each one. The first one was fun but things got worse with every entry in the franchise. It was as if Michael Bay did no longer care for the plot and focused only on fights and explosions. With that said, I was a little hesitant about the Bumblebee Movie. When United International Pictures invited me to the special advanced screening at the IMAX Theatre in SM Megamall last January 6, Sunday, I half-wittingly attended. But boy, did the movie take me by surprise! I am going to say it now: Bumblebee Movie is easily the best Transformers movie and here are the reasons:

Do you still remember a moment of pure joy, wonder, and innocence? Tell you what, Bingers. I just recently did! And there’s no other better way to start my 2019 than with Walt Disney Pictures’ Mary Poppins Returns. Most of us grew up watching Julie Andrews at the 1964 movie, Mary Poppins. It has been more than a decade since I last saw the movie so reliving the magic and music of the sequel brought back some of my happiest memories.
