It’s that time of the year again, Bingers. Get your geek hats on because the biggest pop culture convention in the country is happening in a few weeks. AsiaPOP Comicon Manila is happening this year from July 27 to 29 at its usual venue, SMX Conventi0n Center in Mall of Asia. I have been attending for the past two years and each one had their highlights that made my experience a memorable one. Read along as I will give you 3 reasons to be excited for this year’s #APCC2018. Okay, I will give you a clue: Netflix.
1. Netflix Returns
Alright, let’s get this out of the way. Did anybody endure the long queue last year just to experience Netflix’s amazing setups? If you were one of us, then you know that it was all worth it! From the Litchfield Prison of Orange is the New Black to the Upside Down of Stranger Things, Netflix fans were up for a treat as they got to pose along their favorite characters and sets from their favorite Netflix shows. Personally, my friend and I loved the Upside Down tour because we were really trapped in the darkness with a Demogorgon! As a Marvel fan, I also loved taking photos with the Defenders. Have I mentioned? Before retro-themed restaurants were a thing, Netflix brought Pop’s Diner to Manila and served milkshakes! Of course, the blogger instinct kicked-in so my friend and I took our photos with it!
2. The Guests
Cosplayers, artists, and best of all Hollywood guests! I’ve been dreaming of attending SDCC for the longest time but that is pretty far from happening at this point. So, APCC was the closest thing that I can get. And it fared well. It delivered the pop culture spirit that geeks feasted on. Throughout the years, they brought Hollywood stars in the country for photo-op, autograph, and appearance at the event. Among of which were Nicholas Hoult, Joe Dempsie, and Millie Bobby Brown (which I had a photo with!!) This year, the tradition lives on. The headliners are Finn Jones (Iron Fist) and Tye Sheridan (Ready Player One). A photo-op with both of them would be really nice, right?
3. Hall N
Yes, you read that right. It is not a typo. You might be asking, isn’t it supposed to be Hall M? You know, the one that features everything about Marvel? Well, you are up for a twist. This year, we are moving a letter forward and going to Hall N. What to expect? Your guess is as good as mine. Netflix! The streaming site returns to AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2018 for #NetflixAPCC. They planned an experience that will be inspired by and designed especially for us Pinoy fans! They are promising more awesome experiences, surprise guests, and a look at what’s coming to Netflix. There will also be special screening exclusively for the attendees! Are you hyped? That does not end there!
We are not leaving Marvel completely. Get ready for a super-powered Netflix Marvel Panel that will headed by Mike Colter of Marvel’s Luke Cage series and season 2’s villain, Mustafa Shakir! Finn Jones of Marvel’s Iron Fist will join him to defend (get it?) the Netflix Marvel Panel!
The surprises does not end there. Anime fans are also up for a treat from Netflix. The creators of Castlevania and Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters will tour us behind the scenes to give us a look on how these series came to life! And now for the full immersive experience, fans can walk on the sets of their favorite shows like Iron Fist, Riverdale, and Stranger Things! On top of that, you can also score some collectible swags!
