Gen Korean BBQ House PH: Come for the Meat, Stay for the Seafood

Reading Time: 3 minutes
Quick question, Bingers. What is your go-to samgyupsal place? I am pretty sure we had two restaurants on top of our heads! But you know what, there are more Korean Barbecue restaurants in Metro Manila. In Makati alone, you’ll see one at every corner. Sure, we are all meatlovers but did you know that I have a bigger craving for fish and seafood? Whenever I crave for fresh Sashimi, I go to Rustan’s Marketplace or order from a fish dealer in Cubao. If I have the spare budget, I go to buffets. The options are practically endless but there is one Korean Barbecue restaurant in SM by the Bay in Mall of Asia! For roughly P1000/ head, you can now have as much meat and seafood your tummy desires! Bingers, let me share with you our experience at Gen Korean BBQ House PH!

My blogger friends discovered this Korean BBQ place at SM by The Bay later last year. Initially, I thought, “yay! Another unlimited serving of chicken, beef, and pork!” To my surprise, the restaurant offers more than just that. Instantly, my excitement shot up the roof! The moment we entered the restaurant, I realized then and there that it is different from the usual K-BBQ restaurants. It is huge, neon-lit, and has a stage for live band performances. It is very much unlike our usual samgyupsal places that are cramped and booming with K-POP. Not that I am saying that they are bad, it’s just unusual. After admiring the place, we then moved to the main business: THE FOOD!

Soon after we were seated, we were given the menu. An overwhelming variety of meat was presented to us but we opted for the usual beef and pork cuts. The seafood-lover in me opted for the pricier option because why not? We started firing up the grill and the food kept on coming. What I loved about Gen Korean BBQ is the attentiveness of the crew. We did not have to get their attention for them to approach and ask us if we need a refill on our plates.

The marinated meats were flavored well not too much, not too bland. I particularly liked the spicy pork (I am not exactly sure what it was called, though.) But of course, I was pleased with the star of the meal- seafood! I know, for the price that we paid, we could have gone to a buffet but this is an entirely new experience. Never have I ever been served lobster, squid, and fish in a Korean barbecue place! We immediately popped it on the grill and it was not long before we munched on it! And yes, have I mentioned? Their servings also come with cheese! In that moment, I knew I lost my diet. lol

So, I bet you are now craving for it too! Well, here are the Gen Korean BBQ prices for your reference, Bingers:
  • Lunch P 798/ person (Monday to Friday)
  • Dinner P 1,288/ person (Weekends and Holidays)

Not bad at all, right? So, message your family and friends and have a great time at Gen Korean BBQ!
