Rookie
Baby (Elgort) is a getaway driver hired by Doc (Spacey) for several heists. He is a staple in his operations since Doc does not repeat teams in the fear of jinxing it. While the rest of the team packs a gun or two, Baby is always equipped with his iPod and a set of earphones. The plan plays out along with the music that he is listening to. A childhood trauma from an accident required him to wear these all the time to push away a ringing tone caused by tinnitus.
Living up to his name, Baby is the least experienced of them all with little to no blood in his hands. When he is off the task, he lives as a regular teen with a foster father whom he looks out for. Baby is a do-gooder, and an innocent loving boy who simply happens to be caught up in this mess. He also meets this girl, Debora, who was working at a diner he frequents to. There they had a spark and developed a relationship. One that would later be Baby’s motivation to get out of the business.
Ghosts of his past
He did but the ghosts of his past just keep on haunting him, aka Doc. Soon came a series of heists that immensely developed Baby as a character. He grew from a driver and seemingly an outsider from the team into a man. Elgort greatly showcased this in his character. He kept up along with his fellow actors, and award-winning ones such as Spacey and Foxx. Jon Hamm may have had too much fun playing his role and it showed.
Baby Driver is an original, funny, and crazy film. Backed by its amazing soundtrack, it delivers a pure energetically fun experience! The music hype up the incredibly executed action scenes and car chases. Having the script written by Wright, the comedy is spot-on!
Avoid the trailers, don’t read the plot- enter the cinema clueless about the film and be surprised how much of a delight this film is!
