Bingers, I know how much Filipinos love the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Most of us saw EVERY movie in the franchise and I am pretty sure most of us were devastated by the horrible ending of Avengers: Infinity War. Thanos snapped half the universe and had us craving and begging for the finale. The wait is finally over and here is Avengers: Endgame!
Do you still remember a moment of pure joy, wonder, and innocence? Tell you what, Bingers. I just recently did! And there’s no other better way to start my 2019 than with Walt Disney Pictures’ Mary Poppins Returns. Most of us grew up watching Julie Andrews at the 1964 movie, Mary Poppins. It has been more than a decade since I last saw the movie so reliving the magic and music of the sequel brought back some of my happiest memories. Bingers, I’m gonna tell you one thing and I bet this is going to shock all of you…Wreck it Ralph was released six years ago! Yes! It came out in 2012 but it feels just like yesterday. Personally, it is one of those recent Disney movies that I really loved. Well, alongside Moana and Frozen. And now, 6 years later, Walt Disney brings us back to the world inside the arcade games and even takes us further to the internet! Alright, Bingers. Let’s talk about the elephant in the room: Avengers: Infinity War got most of the hype for all of the comic book movies this year. But still, there were still some left for Ant-Man and the Wasp. Clearly, there is still an immense excitement for the movie. Imagine this, in 2004 I was 12 years old and graduating from elementary. At the same time, Disney-Pixar was peaking with their great animated movies with amazing storylines. The craze for superhero movies was not that huge then. We can all agree that The Incredibles was ahead of its time. And now in 2018, 14 years after the original movie came out, Disney-Pixar delivers the much-awaited movie that a generation of moviegoers has been waiting for! Bingers, get ready for The Incredibles 2! I attended the advanced screening last June 11 at the IMAX Theatre in SM Aura Premier despite the horrible weather! Without a doubt, Marvel Studios is one of the biggest movie franchises to date. With an entire universe of characters at hand and 18 movies on the roster, Avengers: Infinity War is the biggest crossover that was 10 years in the making.
